It is Radius Kirkenes that now wants even more tourists to the eastern part of Finnmark. Alta Friluftspark has had their igloo hotel for some years, and maybe more known is the ice hotel in Jukkasjärvi. Kirkenes Snowhotel is the name of the innovation that lies by Førstevannet close to the city, a few kilometres from the Russian border. The reindeer are already running on the safari park Gabba in the area, so that the tourists will get an atmosphere they’ve probably never before have experienced. A 90m2 restaurant is to provide food and drinks for the hotel guests.

They are aiming more towards tourism in eastern Finnmark because earlier the traffic has mostly gone through Alta to the Northcape. But the Northcape is still the number one tourist attraction for most tourists. From May to August it is established a direct flight between Munich and Kirkenes. It has weekly departures and will bring even more German tourists to Finnmark. It is already established å charter plane from Düsseldorf, which means that Europe is now even closer to Finnmark
