Fishmarket in Tokyo

It has got to be a lot of fish in the ocean when the fish market in Tokyo can offer as much fish as they do every morning. But then Tsukiji is the world’s largest fish market, and delivers fish to all of Tokyo with 30 million people every day. And the Japanese love fish!

All the fish species in the world

It is all about fish as far as the eye can see. The smell of sea and fish lies heavily in the whole area, and the noise is intense. Every morning there is sold ten thousands of fish and shellfish. It has been like this since the early 1600’s. so there is a lot of tradition around here.
The customers are everyone from the even Japanese to the picky restaurant chef’s – in a blend with curious tourists with their cameras around their necks. Everyone is working really hard, the competition is great. There is only a few hours to get the daily earnings. The fish has got to be fresh!

Tsukiji Fishmarket is the worlds largest fish market with its 220 000m2 and they sell about 400 tons of fish from all over the world every day. The market opens every morning around 0400.
Sushizamai is one of Tokyo’s best sushi restaurants which offers over 50 different sushi variations in addition to fresh fish directly from the fish tank and other Japanese fish courses. The restaurant is in a side street from the fish market and serves morning fresh fish. www.kiyomura.co.jp
