Artic Adventure Resort operates all year round. In the winter they arrange snow scooter safaris, on the Jarfjord ice, where they have made holes where the scuba divers come triumphing up with a huge, not at all beautiful, capture. Nothing about its appearance makes you understand that experts around the world are very exited about the taste.

There are lots of Europeans coming to experience the king crab safaris, and there is no doubt that the adventure tourism is expanding internationally, and that the king crab contributes to Finnmark getting their share.

The history of the king crab

The king crab phenomena had its origin about 30years ago when it was discovered that the king crab had migrated from the Russian side of the border and taken in to the fjords in the east of Finnmark. The migration was by many not well received because of the effect it had on the current fauna. A mutual management between Russia and Norway preserved the king crab for some years, but since then the capture of the king crab has been allowed.
