Right in between Torino and Savona on the Mediterranean coast lies the wine yard Marchesi di Barolo – with the world known wine yards and some of the world’s best wines. The name Barolo sounds like music to wine knower’s all over the world.

The beautiful village Barolo

The wine producer Marchesi di Barolo has its main area in the beautiful village Barolo. Here is their old castle and of course the production building. Their castle now belongs to the municipality, while the wine production is still going in the old production areas as it has for hundreds of years.
Article imageToday they produce 1.5million bottles, mainly of Barbera and Barolo, based on the Nebbiolo grape. Two thirds of the production is red wine, the rest is white. Marchesi di Barolo is now owned and managed by the families Abbona and Scarzello. They export wine to lots of countries around the world, and has managed to keep the quality of this world known wine in a perfect way. Year after year they produce quality wine and receive high prices. Most will recognize the wine Barbera d’Alba, and many also Barolo Cannubi, Barolo Sarmassa and Barolo Riserva. All much appreciated wines. In the basement are12-15 impressive oak barrels, and many smaller barrels, large steel containers and of course the original old chestnut barrels, that are still being used.
