Rome – golf in the eternal cityIt rains a bit when we land at Ciampino Airport a Thursday afternoon in March. It is a little colder than in Oslo, but that is ok. The flight to Rome is only three hours from Oslo, one hour shorter than to Lisbon and Malaga and about the same as Nice. Just enough time to refresh the history knowledge.
The weekend trip is planned as a golf trip with cultural experiences, good food and drinks. Driving through one of the famous streets Via Appia, and passing the impressive ruins of Terme de Caracalla, Circo Massimo, Foro Romano, the Quo Vadis chapel and other views on they way to the Visconti Palace Hotel.![]() Marco Simone Golf ClubMarco Simone Golf Club lies 3mil north east of Rome, 40 minutes drive from the city centre and have 36 holes divided in one 18 hole championship course and one 18 hole resort course. In 2003 it was measured the 39th best course in Europe, by Golf Digest. It is in a comfortable rolling area where a horse shoe shaped river in a deep ravine is in game at six of the holes. A line of old oak tree’s gives the course a nice look. The course is well groomed and the greens are fast. The club house is located at the highest area at the course, where the driving range and the practice field are. At the area there is also a guesthouse with 23 room that also visitors may rent. Rome has a lot to offer some cues are; Coliseum, Forum Romanum, Trevifonten, the Spanish stairs and a lot of other wonderful sights.
