Before the trip

Prepare well- whether it’s a business or pleasure trip. Read about the destination – find out if there’s a good restaurant, a play or maybe a concert? Whether it’s a business or pleasure trip you always have a couple of hour to your disposal and you will and you will save time if you know what you wish to see or do.

Online booking

Online booking is often the cheapest. But remember that the travel agencies may have special deals in terms of hotels and rental cars. They also have access to all the information at ones and they have a lot of knowledge about different destinations. Maybe it’s worth the cost?

Seating is important

Do it in advance either through your airline company or your travel agent. It’s often possible to pre book seats on flights outside Europe. Via online booking it’s not always possible to pre book the seating.

Register your bonus cards

Register your bonus cards before departure where you book your flight. Check if your bonus cards also apply for hotels and rental cars.
Travel insurance and cancel insurance is crucial, but you may have them included in your credit card or other insurances.

The cheapest tickets always have the strictest rules. Its seldom possible to change the ticket or to get compensation.

New rules

-         Start packing on time to avoid stress
-         Label your luggage both inside and outside (i.e. put your business card inside)
-         Pack a small empty bag. Your suitcase may be full on your way back!
-         Remember the carry on rules, often 5-8kg and 1 bag. Don’t overfill your carry on, but on longer trips it might be a good idea to pack an extra set of clothes, just in case your luggage disappears. If it’s a non-stop flight you won’t need much carry on, but a sweater might be nice. Remember that medicines and valuables should be in you carrying on luggage. Pack your liquids in a one litre plastic bag in maximum 100ml containers if you are bringing them on board.

Some airlines still offer free food and drinks on board. But many don’t have offer anymore. It may be smart to pack a snack.

If you’re travelling with children it may be wise to buy a few small new toys, but remember that most electronic products are not allowed during take off.
